The Main Gate. The university's
main gate on busy December 1st Street hasn't changed since
the YNU/SDSU exchange program began. There
is also a side and a back gate.
The Yellow Bridge. From the main
gate, a short walk east and then over the yellow bridge takes
SDSU professors to their apartments. We
live on the top floor looking down on the bridge.
Foreign Language Building. This
six-story building houses the School of Foreign
Languages, where SDSU exchange professors
teach oral and written English.
Sophomore Class. These English majors
are part of second-year writing class. The
classrooms are sparse, old, and not very
clean, but the students are eager.
This group of 30 takes all of its classes
together.
Two Legs or Two Wheels. Students
walk to class or ride bicycles. Most university employees
do the same, or they take public transporation
(taxi, bus). Very few own vehicles.
Discard Pile. The greenery on campus
is beautiful, but most of the buildings are not. This pile
of old desks is in a main classroom building.
Most buildings have people living on the first floor
(custodians, I think). This building has
little children roaming the halls. It's their home.
Lawn Scene. With lovely greenery,
a mild climate, and no student union,
students relax outside all over the Yunnan
Normal campus.
Tree Gate. Arm in arm, two coeds enter a garden to study.
Garden Study Hall. In a garden, students study between classes.
Flowers Galore. With three growing
seasons, campus gardens
are beautiful and peaceful places to study.
\
ROTC? Military presence is
everywhere, with guards at campus gates and an occasional
review. This one was just outside the
Foreign Language Building.
\
Crazy 8s. Aaron teaches students
how to play Crazy 8s during a make-up class
on Saturday. The university also makes
up classes on Sunday.
\
Rack-O. Alyssa and Gwen show students how to play Rack-O in our apartment.
\
Corner on Wheat. Aaron plays Pit with students in our apartment.
