What is DrAngband?
DrAngband is a variant of the popular roguelike adventure
game
Angband.
First off it's pronounced
"Dragon Angband" and not "Doctor Angband."
DrAngband's most important additions to Angband are the Dragon races,
Big
Screen (tm:) support, cumulative resistances and new monsters largely
from
the popular variant
Zangband
, by Topi Ylinen.
DrAngband was originally written by Aaron Mandelbaum and then left for
some
years. In October 1999, Tom Morton took over as maintainer with the aim
of updating DrAngband to a modern Angband codebase. Dr. Andrew White
took over as maintainer in September 2000.
What is the latest version?
Version 2.9.9C. Released on Oct 23, 2003. It has a few bug
fixes over the previous code and a few new features. Read the changes.txt for a
complete list.
Where can I get it?
DrAngband may be downloaded from the Angband ftp server or
from this website and may
be copied and distributed for educational, research, but not for profit
purposes
provided that the original copyright messages remain intact. DrAngband
is
available pre-compiled for a selection of platforms and may also be
compiled
under most unixes, including Linux. With most Linux distributions
compiling is as simple and decompressing the source archive and typing
'make'.
Note:
The Windows and DOS executables have the borg enabled.
What is planned for future versions?
I plan on adding a DrAngband ScreenSaver. This will be based
on RR's Angband ScreenSaver which he wrote but uses my borg engine.
Updating the code base to the most recent vanilla to avoid some of the
network security issues. I am also considering adding NPCs or pets.
Although I try to test DrAngband
as thoroughly as possible inevitably bugs are going
to slip through the net. If you notice something that appears to be a
bug please
report it to
me. Suggestions
for future versions of DrAngband are also *very* welcome.

--Borgs do not use two-handed weapons.
