Wednesday, May 1
9:30 a.m.  Quilting.  Quilts will be given to 8 seniors on May 12. Ladies who quilt each month will help carry up the quilts and present to seniors.

Wednesday, May 8
1:30 p.m.  ALCW Meeting.  We are honoring our "senior" members. Program and Lunch: Carna Miler, Bonnie Top and Ruby McKee.

Wednesday, May 15
9:30 a.m. Hannah Circle.  Hostess is Vivian Heidemann. Bible Study Leader is Priscilla Sweeney. We will be doing Lesson 5 - In due Season (Jan/Feb LWT)

7:30 p.m.  Ruth Circle.

OTHER NEWS

Wednesday evening, May 1 at 8:00 p.m. is the Presbyterian Ladies Spring Tea.

Monday, May 6 at 7:00 p.m. is the United Church of Christ Guest Night in Estelline.

Tuesday, May 28 starts the spring cleaning of the church. Please keep this in mind. We need everyone's help.

LOOKING AHEAD TO JUNE

The ladies of American Lutheran will be serving a noon lunch to approximately 30 people at the school during the month of June. (Monday through Thursday for 4 weeks.) We will receive $150 per day/$600 for a week. Some food will be purchased, and some will be donated.  We will be asking for salads, desserts, main dishes and workers.  We will need 2-3 ladies to serve each day. (We will use paper plates, etc.) 



Our high school seniors are Samantha Bohls, Dawn Henrichsen, Heather Janssen, Kristi Kalt, Chris Pearson, Tim Popham, Kristi Pribbenow and Erin Ries.

   Together in Christ: A Dakotas Celebration on June 7th and 8th, at the Sioux Falls Arena is an ecumenical gathering of many Christians from around the state.  Catch the vision!  The church is larger than a single congregation or community.  It is all of God's people.
   You are all invited!  The speakers and musicians are extraordinary including Tony Compolo and Ken Meidema.  There is even a "youth track."  There are worship, speakers, music, quality break-out groups Friday evening through Saturday evening.  This is going to be very special! 
   Individual registration is $25; group is $10 each.  To register contact Pastor John.  The event follows the SD Synod - ELCA Assembly, and is included in delegates' assembly registration.

Fight Cancer with participation in the Watertown Relay for Life June 21 and 22 at Allen Mitchell Field.  Would someone want to put a team together and raise funds for the American Cancer Society programs of research, service, etc.?  What a good ministry!

ELCA Church-wide Mission Support Quiz
True of False:  "Vision for Mission" is a program that helps church-wide staff members afford eye exams, eye glasses and contact lenses, but does not provide for corrective eye surgery. 
False. "Vision for Mission" supports the ELCA church-wide general mission.  It began in 1993 to allow for direct support through gifts from individuals.  In its 1st 7 years it has totaled more than $8 million.  Gifts are designated for domestic and global mission. The "Vision for Mission" church-wide offering is held each spring.  It will be held May 19th, Pentecost, 2002.
