CHURCH COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES
JUNE 2, 2002  10:15 A.M.

The council meeting was called to order at 10:15 with church services being the devotions. Dennis Strait will have devotions in July. Those in attendance were Pastor John, Dennis, Craig, Rod, Sharon and Roy.
Marlys Kuntz, representing "Distinctive Stained Glass & Design" gave a presentation on stained glass if anyone would be interested in this for a memorial gift, etc. We will discuss this at our next meeting when more members are present, and get quotes if anyone would like to use this method for memorials.
The Secretary's report was read and a correction was made in that we intended to give LSS $100 from our Mission Fund along with the other donations that were mentioned last month. Sharon made a motion to approve, Craig seconded. Craig also suggested that we give the lady in Arlington who provided all the meals for the volunteers for the search of Jay Headley $100, and the Watertown Search and Rescue Team $100 which will be coming from our Mission Fund. Dennis seconded the motion.
The Treasurer's report was approved, but it was suggested that the balance we have in the checkbook be put in the weekly bulletin instead of last week's giving. That way, people will have a more accurate account of the money we have on hand.
Pastor John noted that he will be gone the next four Sundays. He will be conducting Confirmation in Wilmot on June 9, and the following Sundays he will be on vacation. Pastor John will seek arrangements for two of the four Sundays, and lay people of our congregation will conduct the other two Sundays.
The Christian Education committee reported that Vacation Bible School went well and was well attended.
The Property report was read. A timer for the lit cross was discussed along with the northeast corner of the church having a piece of siding missing. The rail on the parsonage steps was completed by Roy, and he will be checking on a light in the parsonage basement.
The Worship Committee reported that pew racks for the Bibles will be ordered soon so that we can have something in place before the Bibles actually arrive. The Baptismal chests were picked up from Loren Mack by Sherwin, and taken over to Bill Janssen for completion.
There was no report from the Youth and Outreach committees.
The Talent Offering will be picked up from Sherwin by Craig and taken to the Synod meeting June 6 & 7.
Pastor John voiced concern for the smaller congregations with getting pastors to serve their congregations and there will be a meeting June 12 at the Brandt church regarding this. He encouraged someone from our congregation to attend; Roy said he and Dawn would probably attend.
Transfers out of our congregation were approved. Those wishing to transfer out were Irene Anfinson to Hayti, and Karen Lee Hanson Davis to Billings, Montana. Craig made the motion to approve; Roy seconded.
The next council meeting will be July 14th after worship service. Sharon made the motion to adjourn; Craig seconded.
