MISSION NOTES

  • Remember the California forest fires, the significant loss of property?  Lots of us followed the news and saw the remains of large, elegant homes, and perhaps tuned it out as a non-need because of wealth of several owners.  However, these fires are even more about the homes of ordinary people like you and me, some elderly who have lived 40 years in their homes, people in small communities and their homes of worship.  they are about young couples in their first homes, children who have lost their sense of safety and security.  there is significant impact or uninsured and minority communities, mobile home courts, and service worker housing, Rinco, San Pasqual and Baron Native America communities suffered the loss of 107 residences.  The church is reaching out to help the most vulnerable:  the elderly, handicaps, the single parent, the unemployed, the under insured, the undocumented workers trying to start a new life in this country.  Do you want to help?  Pray and send your offering to Lutheran disaster Response - ELAC, 8765 West Higgins Road.  Chicago, IL  60631 or call 773-380-2719 to use your credit card.
  • Pastor Erika Lehman, Mission Hill, SD has released a CD of hymns called "To God and to the Lamb I will Sing" as a fund raising project for the ELCA World Hunger Appeal.  Most of the hymns are familiar ones from LBW and WOV sung as solos or duets with her daughter, Hilary.  Arrangements are simple and suitable for singing along.  Almost all of the $15.00 price will go to the Hunger Appeal.  Include $1.00 for shipping and order from P.O. 95, Mission Hill, SD  57046.
