Pastor Gary leads worship here today while Pastor John does a "synod visit" to American, Webster, and Pr. Jan FitzGibbon of American, Webster does a "synod visit" to New Helgen, Florence. We continue our quarterly SPECIAL OFFERING SUNDAY today. You may use the special envelope from last Sunday’s bulletin or on the narthex cabinet, or mark the memo line on your check to make an offering to one, some, or all of the following: Lutheran Social Services, Lutheran Outdoors, Lutheran Campus Ministries, Multi-Cultural Center in Rapid City, Synod Office Addition, or write in your own. Checks should be payable to American Lutheran Church. Your offering will be forwarded. You may make your offering next Sunday, also. Thank you. Our Men’s Breakfast Bible Study, called PIGS for Pretty Interesting Guy Stuff, meets next on Thursday, October 6, 6:30-7:30 a.m. All men are invited. The Castlewood CROP WALK is today starting and ending at ALC. We register at 2 p.m. and walk at 2:30 p.m. You can still decide to walk, pick up an envelope on the table in the fellowship hall, sign for it, get your donations (even if it’s only your own) and come to walk. Or you can donate through a walker. This year there will be a friendly competition between participating groups like the area churches and possibly school organizations. Funds raised go to respond to disasters like Hurricane Katrina survivors, and long term hunger and poverty needs world-wide. ¼ of funds raised will be returned to the Hamlin County Food Pantry. We will join together on October 5, 6 – 8 p.m., with the Castlewood School and other area churches for the Kindness Carnival for Katrina.. We need one person to co-ordinate and work at the bake sale, our confirmation youth are doing the Quarterback Toss game, and we need a co-ordinator and 5 or 6 acts (music, skits, etc.) for a ½ hour of entertainment. Please think and pray about how you (all ages) can participate, and talk to Pastor John about what you could do The NeSoDak Lutefisk Dinner is Sunday Dec. 4, at 12:45 p.m. See Dennis Lund by October 2 if you are interested in going. ALCW Fall Homecoming Bazaar and Bake Sale will be from 11:00 – 2:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 30 at the Community Center. Each ALC member is asked to furnish a pie. We would also like garden items, crafts, etc. Cards and napkins will also be available. Supporting funds from Thrivent for coats, caps and mittens for those in need. There’s a sign-up sheet in the narthex for workers for the Homecoming Bake Sale and Bazaar on Friday. Please Help St. John’s Catholic Church of Castlewood will be holding its Fall Dinner on Sunday, October 9th at the Castlewood School from 11:00a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Roast Beef, mashed potatoes with gravy, dinner roll, corn, cole slaw and dessert will be served Strength for the Journey Workshop, Saturday, Oct. 1 from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. sponsored by Bethany Christian Services. This workshop is for couples and individuals at any stage of the infertility journey. Conference costs: $20.00 for an individual, $30.00 per couple.
