Pray for our brothers and sisters who are or have been ill: Della Aronson, Bud Walraven, Karl Coning, Shelly Walder, Joann Ries, Bea Wiarda and Walter Kalt. Pray for families of Carl Nolte, Leola Wenzlick and all those who mourn. Pray for peace in Iraq, Afghanistan, Israel/Palestine, Sudan and for all nations in conflict. Pray for our military people in Iraq/Afghanistan: Dana Walraven, Gerry Somsen, Matthew Haug, Jay Goldhorn, Cole Namken, Todd Moss, Dana Walraven. Pray for students and teachers as they begin the new year. A Mission Prayer: God of peace, we lift up to you the people of Costa Rica, El Salvador, Nicaragua and Panama. Watch over them with your love and grant them the strength to rise with the sun to meet each day. Amen.

Next Sunday is Vision for Mission Sunday. Vision for Mission is the special annual offering for the mission of ELCA churchwide. Each member is asked to consider bringing an extra offering (over and above your usual offering) for the churchwide work of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Please use the envelope in today’s bulletin. You may mail it on your own or place it in the offering next Sunday. Thank you for your consideration.

We are seeking 2 or 3 couple or single parents, who will attend the Faith Family Style Fall Training at NeSoDak on Oct. 15-16 (5:30p.m. Fri. – 3:00p.m. Sat.) and then help lead a family ministry program at ALC. The registration cost is $65.00/person. The Council will pay a total of $130.00, divided among all that attend. Talk to Pastor ASAP.

Come & help! We will have workdays this week on Fri., Sept. 24, 6 p.m. and Sat., Sept. 25, 7:30 a.m. at the parsonage – subject to weather. Friday we plan to tear off rotten siding, framing, etc. Saturday we will replace needed material and paint. Let’s have a big work crew. Come; have a good time working together bringing our parsonage to an improved condition.

ALC’s Community Thanksgiving Dinner will be Sunday, Nov. 21^st at 11:00 a.m. at ALC. Set aside, bring your friends and neighbors. We need 1 or 2 people to step forward to be co-chair this year and leaders of the dinner in 2005. How about you? Talk to Ernie Karst or Rod Fischer.

The Castlewood CROP WALK raised $2,268.33 ($880 from ALC donors). We had 62 walkers (23 ALC walkers), 1 tractor driver (Tyler Jankord and his John Deere – Thank you!), 2 Treasurers and 1 dog. Great service! Thank you walkers and donors!

We will soon start an offering for "Bring Karl home" giving each of you an opportunity to help with travel and related expenses in bringing Karl back to Sioux Falls. Watch for the unique offering container.

The ALC adult choir will rehearse next Sunday, Sept. 19 at 8:30 a.m. Everyone is invited to join the choir. Help lead our worship.

Tonight is our High School Youth event with Parents, too at 7:00 p.m. at ALC "Walking the Talk". Come join us. Dodi Haug will be leading us.

Donald (Bud) Gene Walraven was baptized at ALC on September 19, 2004. Welcome into God’s family.

The Castlewood First Presbyterian Church invites you to come to their dinner today (Sept. 19) from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The menu is roast beef, mashed potatoes and gravy, corn, salads and dessert. A freewill donation will be accepted.

Prairie Lakes Hospice invites you to learn more about providing volunteer care for our hospice patients and families coping with the final stages of life. Prairie Lakes Healthcare System will host a Bereavement Support Group beginning Thursday, Oct. 14, 2004 from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the Lobby Conference Room on the first floor of Prairie Lakes Hospital. The series of 5 sessions is open to the public.
