Pray for our brothers and sisters who are or have been ill: Todd Woertink, Larry Dockter, Bill Schmit, & Karl Madsen-Coning, thanksgiving for healing and for restoration of strength to Gary Hyde and Barbara O’Neill. Pray for the people suffering from Hurricane Katrina and for those helping them. Pray for our Sunday School students, parents, and teachers. Pray for our military people in Iraq/Afghanistan: Jeremy Pribbenow, Matthew Haug, Todd Freesemann, Charles Chapman. Pray for peace in Iraq, Israel, Columbia, Sudan, Afghanistan, and other areas of conflict. Our Sunday service is on ITC Cable TV, channel 1, in Castlewood on Thursdays at 12:30 & 7:00 p.m. Blessing of those Entering Sunday School is an important step in the beginning of a child’s Christian life. Those blessed to today include Hannah Mickey daughter of Dawn & John Mickey, Darah DeKam daughter of Sherwin & Shelly DeKam, Dylan Ries son of Justin Ries, Matthew McDaniel son of Shannon McDaniel, Hayden Burrell son of Brad & Danielle Burrell. Melissa Jean Prohl was baptized on September 10, 2005 at ALC. Congratulations and welcome into God’s family. This is SPECIAL OFFERING SUNDAY (quarterly, the 3rd Sunday of the 3rd month). You may use the special envelope in your bulletin or the memo line on your check to make an offering to one, some, or all of the following: Lutheran Social Services, Lutheran Outdoors, Lutheran Campus Ministries, Multi-Cultural Center in Rapid City, Synod Office Addition, or write in your own. Checks should be payable to American Lutheran Church. Your offering will be forwarded. You may make your offering on the next 2 Sundays, also. Thank you. Our first Confirmation Mentor/Student/Parent meeting is tonight at 6:00 p.m. for supper, activities, and mentor training meeting. All mentors, students and parents are asked to come. Our Men’s Breakfast Bible Study, called PIGS for Pretty Interesting Guy Stuff, meets this Thursday at 6:30-7:30 a.m. All men are invited. The Castlewood CROP WALK will take place Sunday, September 25th starting and ending at ALC. We register at 2 p.m. and walk at 2:30 p.m. This year there will be a friendly competition between participating groups like the area churches and possibly school organizations. Pick up your walker envelop to use in asking for donations, or plan to make a generous donation through a walker or two. Funds raised go to respond to disasters like Hurricane Katrina survivors, and long term hunger and poverty needs world-wide. ¼ of funds raised will be returned to the Hamlin County Food Pantry. Talk with or call Lorie Janssen (881-4464). We will join together on October 5, 6 – 8 p.m., with the Castlewood School and other area churches for a carnival night at the school to raise funds for victims of Hurricane Katrina. We are looking for one person to help co-ordinate the bake sale, for our youth and confirmation youth to plan and lead a few game booths, and possibly for ½ hour of a variety of entertainment. Please think and pray about how you (all ages) can participate, and talk to Pastor John about what you could do. St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Women of Clear Lake invite ALC women to a Guest Day Brunch on Saturday, September 24, 2005 at 9:00 a.m. Program will include Judy Konold Ring. The theme is "Hats That We Wear". ALCW Fall Homecoming Bazaar and Bake Sale will be from 11:00 – 2:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 30 at the Community Center. Each ALC member is asked to furnish a pie. We need baked goods and workers too! We would also like garden items, crafts, etc. Cards and napkins will also be available. Supporting funds from Thrivent for coats, caps and mittens for those in need. Thank you to Robin Gabur and Lorie Jansen , Co. Chr. of the lunch committee for the ALCW guest night and their helpers. We had many compliments. Also thank you to all who set-up, decorate and helped in anyway. The entertainment was delightful and lunch delicious. Tonight, September 18, 7:30 p.m., Carol and Norm Streyle from Sioux Falls will be offering a concert at Hamlin Reformed Church. All are welcome to come for a great evening of worship, fellowship and refreshment. The NeSoDak Lutefisk Dinner is Sunday Dec. 4, at 12:45 p.m. See Dennis Lund by October 2 if you are interested in going. Strength for the Journey Workshop, Saturday, Oct. 1 from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. sponsored by Bethany Christian Services. This workshop is for couples and individuals at any stage of the infertility journey. Conference costs: $20.00 for an individual, $30.00 per couple. The event will be held at the Good Samaritan society Corporate headquarters in Sioux Falls. Please RSVP to Bethany Christian Services at 605-336-6999.
