Pray for our brothers and sisters who are or have been ill: Vivian Heidemann, Gary Hyde, Larry Dockter, Karl Madsen-Coning. Pray for the families of Shirley Strait and Shelly Walder. Pray for our military people in Iraq/Afghanistan: Jeremy Pribbenow, Matthew Haug, Todd Freesemann, Thank God that Cole Namken has returned home safely from Iraq,. Pray for peace in Iraq, Israel, Columbia, Sudan, Afghanistan, and other areas of conflict. Mission Prayers: We pray for the people of Canada and the United States of America: for the young and old; for women and men; for the hungry, the poor, the broken and unloved, and for those who live with plenty; for those hurting and those who heal; for those who live without hope and those who bring meaning to life; we ask that your mercy and loving-kindness may abound. Offerings received last Sunday were: $948.00 General Fund, $175.00 - Building Fund, $10.00 - Mission Fund Our Sunday service is on ITC Cable TV, channel 1, in Castlewood on Thursdays at 12:30 & 7:00 p.m. Today is "Food Pantry Sunday." As we eat the "Bread of Life," we, in response, bring "bread" for those in need. If you forgot, bring something next Sunday. We appreciate your partnership in the gospel, your witness, your prayers and your offerings. Be sure to designate where you want your offering to go – general fund, missions, building, or other specific designation. Undesignated offerings go in the general fund. Bloodmobile is coming to Castlewood, Wednesday, Aug. 10th from 1:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Community Center. Call 793-2244 or 793-2350 for appointments. ALCW is asked to bring the cookies. Please sign up if you can. Parents, Grandparents, Congregational Leaders, Sunday School Teachers, Youth and Family Leaders are invited to the "Passing on the Faith Conference," September 23-24 at Chamberlain. This conference helps people find the keys to their faith in Jesus Christ, so they can pass it on from generation to generation. It is presented by the Youth & Family Institute. Cost is $60.00/person ($50.00 before 8/15) or $45.00/ person if 3 or more from the congregation attended. Talk to Pastor if you want more information or want to attend. Thank you to Brenda McKee, Lorna and Austin Nielsen, Robb Walder, Chuck Juntti and Pastor John for driving/chaperoning the Youth Trip last Thursday..to Valley Fair. Our total # was 22. Our Christian Education Committee will meet this Wednesday, August 10 at 7:00 p.m. to plan Sunday school and receive information on the confirmation curriculum. All youth and other volunteers are welcome to help with the Castlewood Days breakfast at the Community Center, beginning at 6:00 a.m. and serving from 7:00 – 9:30 a.m. Funds support ALC Youth ministry. Council acted to enter into a "Missionary Sponsorship Covenant" with the ELCA and Nicole Becker of Our Savior’s, Huron who is teaching science at Oshigambo Lutheran High school in Namibia, Africa. Watch for more information on how you can support Nicole. |
